Dawson was the son of Christen (Halberstadt) and T.J. King of Bellefontaine and Caleb M. Thomas of Anna.

He is survived by his parents, his siblings Hailey Ferrell, Sawyer Thomas, Foster King, Ciara Hayden, and Kiersten Wilcox, as well as grandparents, great-grandparents, extended relatives, friends, classmates, and others who cared deeply for him.

His family had already experienced profound loss before Dawson’s passing. Among those who preceded him in death were his sister, Jade Kennedy Thomas; his infant brother, M.J. Thomas; his grandfather, John Thomas; and his great-grandfather, Tom Meyer.

The loss of Dawson now adds another painful chapter to a family that has experienced the death of loved ones before.

Funeral Arrangements

Funeral services for Dawson Thomas are scheduled for 12 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Jackson Center Family Life Center, located at 310 Davis Street in Jackson Center, Ohio.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, with an additional visitation period beginning one hour before the funeral service on Friday.

Deacon Terry Coleman is scheduled to officiate the funeral. Burial will take place privately at St. Lawrence Church Cemetery in Rhine, Ohio, at a later date.

In place of flowers, the family has requested consideration of memorial contributions to the Dawson C. Thomas Scholarship Fund.

As the Bellefontaine and Jackson Center communities come together to mourn, Dawson will be remembered as a son, brother, student, friend, and young man who brought energy and laughter into the lives of others.
