Jack Malouff Austin Texas Accident-Update: College Student Suffers Severe Spinal Cord Injury After Diving Into Shallow Water

AUSTIN, Texas — A 20-year-old college student, Jack Malouff, is facing a serious medical battle after suffering a severe spinal cord injury in a diving accident at a lake in the Austin area.

According to information shared by Malouff’s family, the accident happened Friday night while he was spending time with other college students. Malouff reportedly dove from a dock into water that was too shallow and struck his head.

Friends at the scene pulled him from the water after he remained submerged for roughly 30 seconds. He was reportedly not breathing and had no detectable pulse when he was brought out of the water, prompting those around him to immediately begin CPR.

Malouff survived the accident but sustained significant injuries to his spinal cord. His family has said that the injuries involve the C2, C6 and C7 areas of his spine.
